Complete And Partial Dentures

"Losing a tooth or teeth can adversely affect your self-confidence, the way you chew food and your general health. Dentures are the most affordable appliances to replace multiple missing teeth.  Depending on if some or all teeth are missing, a Partial or Full (Complete) Denture will restore your smile.

 

A Partial denture replaces missing teeth while utilizing your healthy, natural teeth.  It can prevent natural teeth from tipping, or growing into spaces where they do not belong.  Full dentures fill the space in an arch where teeth used to reside.  They can be made with or without implants or anchors. 

 

Pictures of your teeth when you were young are very helpful in choosing teeth that fit your face and personality.  Dr. Clear enjoys making you look natural with dentures.  If you want straight and white or crooked or spaced, she can make a natural denture look happen for you!

 

Partials and Dentures are very Aesthetic.  Dr. Clear was trained by some of the very best in fabricating well fitted, aesthetic, comfortable and stable dentures and partials.  Un-anchored lower arch dentures are always loose due to the physics of the lower jaw and tongue.  But with Dr. Clear's guidance, she will help you to learn how to make them work well for you.  It is very possible to function in a denture without use of adhesives and paste.  They look very realistic too!  Partials and dentures are fabricated with high quality dental resins for the natural look of teeth and gums.  Dr. Clear will choose a specific brilliant tooth size,shape and color to match your skin tone and your mouth for a natural smile you are proud to display!  

 

Partials and dentures should not be made with one impression overnight.  Dr. Clear will take all the impressions and measurements personally.  She will not have a non-dentist staff assistant take an impression that needs to show your oral anatomy.  She will capture measurements that specifically show the size and shape the dentures and partials need to be.  There are 4 measurement steps that will be taken: The primary impression, Final impression, Measurement Marking and a Wax Trial Insertion (so you can see what the result will look like after they are complete). 

 

Immediate Dentures are dentures fabricated when you have teeth that need to be extracted but want to walk out of that appointment with dentures replacing the extracted ones. Initial appointments consist of one or two impression/measurement appointments that allow for an educated shape of the denture.  Pre-processing viewing is available, sometimes it can be tried in to see how it will look.  These dentures can fit great for 4-6 months.  Due to bone remodeling that occurs after extractions, they are relined to make them fit well again. 

 

Annual Dental Exams for those without teeth are highly recommended.  A dental exam consists of a most important Oral Cancer Exam.  Your denture/partial appliances are also evaluated for tooth/resin wear.  The fit of the denture is evaluated too.  You will be informed about how to care for your dentures, if they need any tooth or teeth replaced, relining or if they are functioning well for you.  Denture teeth can wear out over time making chewing less and less efficient.  They can be professionally polished at your annual exam as well."

 

Denture relines and re-bases are a procedure to refit a non-fitting denture or partial.  Dental Science has shown that edentulous areas change 3% per year so relines are a part of keeping a denture for many years to come!  Dr. Clear will take an impression inside your existing partial or denture.  The denture/partial is put through a lab process to get acrylic to fill in the open space.
